Award-winning stand-up comedian, creative, copywriter & comedy writer.

The roads leading to here were winding, potholed, and followed without the use of a sat-nav. They swung past a graphic design degree, careered through the Watford postgraduate advertising & copywriting course, and took an award-winning five-year detour on the UK stand-up comedy circuit. Where night after night the success of an idea would be gauged in howls of laughter or deathly soul-destroying silences. And where professional qualifications and a natural inclination towards humour would come together to create a unique agency and publisher, committed to using humour and wit to communicate important, socially beneficial information called: Serious Comedy.

Eight years later, over 500,000 books have been provided to children across the UK, as well as integrated campaigns with executions such as OOH, print, radio, online content, animation, and films.

Most recently, Darren and his co-writer won a prestigious Bafta Rocliffe comedy new writing award, and when he’s not coming up with ideas for Serious Comedy, he’s developing sitcom scripts with some of the UK’s largest production companies, writing best man speeches and drinking inordinate amount of tea. You can catch him here at: darren@seriouscomedy.co.uk.
